The Hive

For the Fall 2022 semester, we are happy to once again offer in-person workshops in Trexler B-06 (the hive). Please reach out to a member of the Digital Learning group if you would like to schedule a workshop or drop-in time for your class.

The Hive is a space for collaboration, experimentation, and co-creation.

Physically located in Trexler Library, B06, the Hive is a vibrant and welcoming educational development space for students, faculty and staff.  In the Hive, student Digital Learning Assistants hold drop-in hours for students in need of peer assistance and guidance on a variety of digital projects. These and other opportunities for peer learning and guidance may be conducted in-person or virtually, as requested.  Please see the Getting Assistance – Students page on this website.

The Hive is also available for course sessions with members of the Digital Learning Team and DLAs tailored to support faculty efforts to integrate digital technologies and practices into their pedagogy.

What students say about the Hive:

“Once I found it and walked in, I was struck by the appearance and ‘energy’ of the hidden room. Its clean and modern look made the space feel comforting, especially seeing as I was greeted by smiling and warm faces.”

“[W]alking into the Hive, I was not expecting to come across some familiar faces of professors and other technology professionals who were present in support of my academic growth and advancement in my communications studies. What is most compelling about the Hive is the amount of assistance that is poured out to students the moment they walked in the room.”

“…I was welcomed into a digital haven. Surrounding the room were MacBooks, SmartBoard projectors, and other technical equipment. There were even ‘Hive’ stickers decorating the tables!”

“Walking into a welcoming room, I was greeted by my professor as well as Tim Clarke who works at the Hive. Everyone was very welcoming and was even understanding for those who many have used Berg Builds before the class.”
